Halloween.
Halloween seems to be able to bring the worst out in people.
Especially in parents. Do they really have no idea what is going on in their children’s lives?
Can they really not see where we come from in what we say?
They truly need a rude awakening to what they say and how it can affect their kids.
By telling their child they are worthless and a disappointment, is not going to help any type of situation. It honestly can make things worse, obviously. I mean, come on, they were a kid once, does growing up really affect how you perceive what’s its like to be a teenager? If that is true, I honestly never want to grow up. I don’t want to loose my perception of life.
Though todays day in age is much different than when our parents were growing up, it gives them no right to say that things were “much worse in their day”. They have NO clue how it is to be a teenager in the “new millennium”. With todays media and the criteria we are faced with, all that seems to matter anymore is how thin or beautiful people are, or how many people you sleep with. Those are not the values in life we must be faced with.
Parents should honestly, just sit down, listen, and pay attention to the way things are today, and they should not judge us on how we are, because it is not their fault if we “screw up” or are “disappointing”. We are just children of the “new millennium” and we can not help how screwed we are in life because of the way we think we are supposed to act, it is truly the fault of the society today.
Parents need to learn.
